The fire safety requirements for products depend on the application. Artificial plants are usually seen as decoration and sometimes as construction material. In the latter case, the requirements are set out in the applicable standard: NEN-EN 13501-1 (2019), Fire classification of construction products and building elements – Part 1: Classification using data from reaction to fire tests. See the website of NEN.
If you use a building or own one, fire safety is your responsibility. National rules apply to the fire safety of buildings. Among other things, you must:
So, by definition, the fire safety of buildings benefits from fire-retardant artificial plants.
As a hospitality business owner, you have to meet many requirements, including in fire safety. Your premises must be accessible to the fire brigade, you must have sufficient extinguishing water and enough certified fire alarms. The interior also has to meet certain requirements. Fire-retardant artificial plants are not only decorative and atmosphere-enhancing, they also make a valuable contribution to fire safety. The rules may vary by local authority, so always check which requirements apply to your business. Also read about artificial plants for hospitality.
Fire safety in the office is an important point of attention. Does your office have sufficient escape routes? Are there enough fire alarm systems, and is your extinguishing equipment up to date? Of course you have thought about this. You can take it one step further: choose fire-retardant artificial plants. Our plant walls are not only atmosphere-enhancing; with fire-retardant artificial plants, you make your workplace even safer.
Fire safety at a trade fair involves many points of attention because of its temporary nature. The building itself will of course already comply with the rules, such as emergency exits and escape routes. But every trade fair layout is different, and stands and display materials are made from different materials. Because a trade fair attracts many people, organisers need to think carefully about safety, including fire safety. Fire-retardant artificial plants help with that.
Because greenery has a positive and calming effect, it is a good idea anyway to decorative artificial plants to place at a trade fair, or to create the layout with green walls. This quickly transforms a trade fair venue into a beautiful, inviting place. The positive effect of greenery boosts sales, and its calming effect encourages potential customers and partners to stay longer. Green walls with sound-absorbing material also improve the acoustics. And what it means for safety that the artificial plants are fire-retardant speaks for itself!
Fire-retardant artificial plants at a trade fair are therefore an excellent investment, both commercially and for safety.
